We sat at our table no less than 25 minutes without a server approaching us. At this time, I asked my wife to speak to the hostess and request a manager visit our table.
I explained to the manager that we had been seated for quite a while and had received no acknowledgment. He was quick to apologize and sent the server away from our table. I then related to him what I had observed since being seated. Namely, that the server in that area had not only completely ignored my wife and I, but had taken the drink order of a couple (coincidentally Caucasian) who had been seated around 10-15 minutes later than us and had returned with their drinks.
We were seated and it seemed no one knew who was our waitress. We had 4 different servers, maybe 5 if you count the one who went back to get butter. The potato was cold and hard, butter would not melt. We were there over an hour and a half, finally got the order, had to wait on the ticket forever and was late getting to our destination. I have to say this is the first time I have ever had crunchy sauteed onions. Will never go back here. Our borrowed name for this place is Crapplebees.
The manager, though initially apologetic, had the gall to ask had my wife or I stopped any other server in the area. I calmly explained that it was not my job to stop and request service when my entire reason for being at the restaurant was to be served.
My husband and I went here for our anniversary. There were only 3 other couples in the restaurant. The hostess seated us, and we sat and waited forever, while the waiter walked past us to the tables on either side multiple times without taking any notice of us. The hostess just stood there at her station and watched. He never came back to take our drink order, and she never checked to see why we weren't being served. Finally we got up and left. No one said a word or seemed to care at all. We'll never go back.
With some hesitation we went to Applebee's again. There were few people there since it was a Monday night. We placed our order and waited about 30 minutes. The waiter, who stated he was alone, eventually brought out my wife's food and said they were still working on mine since it was a new item and the restaurant had only received the new menus that very morning. I pointed out it was only a steak and mashed potatoes. He said they were back there prepping it. I was puzzled but what could I do. A few minutes later he came back out and told me that his manager said to offer to bring me something else out to eat. I then informed him that I didn't want anything at all and that we wouldn't be back. I further told him that a very similar incident happened to me out at curbside pick up and I had left with no food that time also. I told him clearly his manager simply can not deliver what he needs to. This is one of the consistently worst restaurants I have ever been to in my life.
This was our first experience with Applebee's, ever.... It was horrible. Mine and my husband's steaks were burnt, we ordered them (thinking we were getting the 2 for $20), medium well along with a spinach dip appetizer, fries and side salads... My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a Dr Pepper.... The waiter brought my soda and said he'd be right back with the beer... 15 minutes later he brought a Luke warm mug of beer and set it down, sloshing it all over the table. 20 minutes later we received our appetizer.... 45 minutes later we got our steaks and fries... When we finished our plates, and were still waiting on our salads, I asked them to box them as we were running late to the Playoff games we had driven down from Clinton to watch... He immediately sat our check up on the kiask before getting our salads... $43 later, we left late, still hungry and a little sore in the tail end from paying the check.
We will never eat at this particular location again. We weren't the only customers to have complaints last night either. I hope they all have called today.
Upon arrival, we were seated immediately by a very nice hostess. She promptly gave us our menus and silverware and told us our server would be with us shortly. It was at this point that our dinner service went downhill.
We left utterly sickened by the experience.
At the moment the manager began to come to our table, the server who had been taking orders at the surrounding table in the area immediately came to us, asking for our drink orders.
My only regret is that I can't rate less than 1 star. Let me explain.
Tonight, my wife and I (who are African American) visited this establishment and received the worst service imaginable.
